Monica McCann said... There were only 8 people on my trip, so it ended up being more of a private tour than it was a group event, which was super nice! We got lucky with the weather being sunny since it rains over 200 days of the year in Milford Sound. Our coach driver was very funny with his commentary and was very friendly and informative as well- he even helped us spot trout in the river and lakes at one of our stops on Milford Road. Definitely pack snacks if you don’t want to spend money at the cafe you will stop at because lunch was not until 2 and we boarded the coach at 8, so most were hungry well before lunch (luckily I packed snacks). We had a total of maybe 5 different stops on the journey which was very enjoyable as the trip into Milford Sound is equally as spectacular as Milford Sound itself. The boat crew were great as well, very informative over the loudspeaker, offering to take our pictures, recommending picture spots and they even played a popular rock song as we approached to waterfall to pump everyone up haha. Our boat was much nicer than the surrounding cruises ( the nearby boats looked like tiny cruise ships packed with people). The underwater observatory was cool...lots of fish to be seen. A very long day to say the least!
