Great Fun
We had a really good time kayaking to split apple rock and a little further before a break on the beach for lunch. We explored some of the caves and could have went swimming if we wished. Marshall was a great guide, tutor for the kayaking and chilled guy which made us relax and enjoy the whole activity. We would recommend R and R Kayaks to all our friends.

Couldn’t be better
What a fantastic experience with R&R kayaking! From the welcome at the desk to the care given by Marshall prior to, during and post-kayaking, I can’t imagine any way that my experience could have been improved, from the pre water guidance and demos to the vegetarian lunch, including red velvet cake and fresh cafetière coffee on the beach, my apprehension about kayaking after a long day’s hike the previous day were gradually and easily quelled. The only challenge I experienced was one small blister where I had got a bit competitive to take my 11-year old co-pilot close to paddle alongside her family as we navigated through gaps between rocks, and pushed a bit harder than my skin could take! But I was given all the time and WiFi I needed at the end, with a shower and a hang-out space to recover, and an Elastoplast to take away with me when I left for the Betterbus back to Nelson once we’d finished, and all our kayaks and gear were thoroughly washed and cared for for the next lucky participants! Go R&R kayaks - you did great! 🙌🙏😎

Kayak fun with nice guide
We did the half day tour to the split Apple with guide Marshall. He is very relaxed and instructed us well. And also checks safety matters later on. It was a nice trip, lots of fun!

It was fun
We had a really great kayaking tour led by our guide Marcel. After the briefing, he showed us how the spray skirt and the rudder work, and of course how to get in and out of the kayak. We thought that was important, too. We’ve gone canoeing in the past and used a kayak a few times. But never with a rudder, and it works the opposite of what you’d expect. So it took us a while to get the hang of it. Marcel took his time with all of this. At Apple Rock, he took plenty of time for us to take photos. Afterward, we had lunch with him and a German couple with a child on a tiny beach. It was absolutely great. We had nice conversations about all sorts of things. Then we headed back. A fun half-day. Highly recommended! The information from the base was also excellent. Friendly people.
