A very enjoyable day. Scrumptious muffins and biscuits for morning tea. Small group and very personalized and helpful staff. Would recommend as a great day out without the crowds.
It was an absolute beautiful trip. I would everyone recommend doing it. It is a two our drive but it is worth it, since you are alone on the reef. The owner and the crew are lovely and really care about the reef and the nature and do not only do it for profit. Would always recommend this trip.
Viaggio un po' lungo per arrivare alla barriera corallina. Paesaggi belli ma la barriera mi ha un po' deluso, ho visto pochi pesci e pochi colori, probabilmente non era tra le migliori...
Sorry to hear your experience. We could see that you were having some real struggles with the snorkelling. Our instructors tried to assist but help declined by yourself several times. Suggest next time when snorkelling to take some help when offered so that you don’t miss out on seeing the best bits including the multiple sharks, stingrays and turtles the same day you visited as commented on other passengers to the reef.

NIce day out
Had a very nice time on this day long trip out to Beaver Reef from Cairns. Nice new bus picked us up from Reef Fleet terminal for the 2 hour trip to Mission Beach. Owner, guide, skipper provided commentary on the way there. Picked up our boat at Clump Point and had a nice morning tea with snacks from a local caterer. Good sized group of about 20 people. We picked a good day to go; the sea was flat and visibility was great. There were 2 staff on board who were very attentive to guest needs and were chatty with the guests. They also provided the guiding and safety for the 2-1 hour snorkeling tours on the reef surrounding the cay. Life jackets, pool noodles and life rings available for those wanting extra support during the snorkeling. The reef was in surprisingly good condition, and the calm waters that day made for easy exploration. Lots of fish to be seen, a few painted crayfish as well. One lazy shark that sat on the sandy bottom for a while, starfish and varied corals as well. Lunch was a basic wrap, dietary requirements catered for. After a few hours on the reef, we headed to Dunk Island. We had about 1 hour there, but it was really just too hot to do much exploring. DId a quick jaunt down the famous spit and then hung out under the trees. Cheese/crackers served while we sailed back to Mission Beach and the bus that would take us back to Cairns. All up, it was about 13 hours in total which makes for a long day. As a long time local in Cairns, I would say that the condition of the reef and the marine life was a bit better than what you'll get visiting the more high profile (but overrun) reefs visited on day trips from Cairns Marina. A great day out on a less visited part of the reef with a knowledgeable guide (owner) and friendly staff. Thank you to all staff and crew :)
