Discover the beauty of Green Island on Great Barrier Reef as you take an epic full day expedition with Big Cat.

This exciting expedition departs Cairns, taking you on a relaxing 45 minute journey from the mainland to Green Island, a coral cay on the reef.

Upon arrival you'll have the day to explore this stunning island, including the tropical rainforest and surrounding reef. If you're feeling adventurous, take your pick from a number of walking trails and boardwalks throughout the island and get up close to the natural environment this island is known for.

You'll also have the option to add on water based extras. Explore the majestic underwater world by self guided snorkel, or see the reef from up above on board a glass bottom boat. You will save if pre purchased at checkout, or purchase on the day of travel subject to availability.

  • All our vessels are pram friendly. The beach areas are not practical for prams however there are boardwalks and pathways throughout the island that are suitable. Prams can be stored on Big Cat if needed.

A Top Day!

We had a smooth trip with smiling attentive crew to a magical place! Green Island offers day trippers so much! Food, swimming pool, and a patrolled sandy beach as well as a variety of snorkeling experiences. Not to mention the beautiful turtles ❤️

Amazing experience

Me and my husband had such an amazing day trip. The Crew was 100% available for us. The fact they lend us the stinger suit cause now is jellyfish season made me feel very safe. The boat is very comfortable and the air con very refreshing. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great day at Green Island. We saw so many fishes and turtles, was just perfect

Christmas Eve day adventure to Green Island

My Green Island adventure on Christmas Eve was brilliant from start to finish. Loads of fun had in the water (swimming, snorkelling) and above the water (parasailing). The booking process on this site is very user-friendly and great deals on offer. Thank you.

Good and bad experience

That day I had two experiences, a very good one and a bad one. We loved the island and everything that we did there, but the bad experience was inside the ferry, due to the no attention of the crew members, specially from one Asian girl with red hair. She didn't want to work that day and she responded in a bad way to everyone. When I wanted to rent the snorkeling equipment she answered unpolitely that I need to go and wait for someone else, but nobody was there. A guy arrived but he was paying attention to an Asian man that arrived after me, and after he went with this man and left me alone waiting again. I went to talk again with the girl and she told me that I need to wait there and I responded that I won't wait any longer because I already wait. The girl went to give me the equipment angrily.
