Paronella Park is a celebration of the Paronella family’s achievements, including the hard work of its founder José Paronella. Enjoy fantastic photo opportunities, daily tours to take in the sights, view the Teresa Falls, or grab some lunch at the open-air Café on the Deck.
The Park includes José Paronella’s castle, picnic area by the falls, tennis courts, bridges, and a tunnel, all surrounded by a lush rainforest of 7,500 tropical plants and trees.
Arriving in Australia from Catalonia, Spain in 1913, José Paronella created the intricate gardens and castle for the enjoyment of the public. The Park was officially opened in 1935 after years of unswerving labour, built with a movie theatre and hall for dances and parties. José planted upwards to 7,000 trees in the park, including magnificent Kauris, highlighting the stunning Teresa Falls.

The Darkness Falls Tour - every night
Explore the secrets and delights of Paronella Park at night, enjoy a special 45-minute tour with a sound and light display, that extends the Paronella Park experience.
Self-Guided Botanical Walk
Discover the park’s flourishing flora on a self-guided walk aided by a 16-page booklet containing information on the park’s plant life, with trees identified throughout the park.
The gardens and the remaining ruins of the castle were fascinating Built beside a waterfall You are given a 35 minute tour with a guide Mandy and she explains the history behind the Paronella park. Then your left alone to explore park on your own A trip worth doing. The drive from Cairns to the park was a long drive about 1 he 45min but it was very scenic. A must do if in Cairns. The experience was amazing. So keep the park memories alive by going to see it.
A must see. Jose was certainly a man with great foresight. The Evan’s family have done a wonderful job maintaining and restoring Paronella Park. Our guide Bill told the story enthusiastically and informatively. All the staff were lovely and helpful. Something you would not believe unless you see it for yourself.
We had a great day. Warm welcome from all staff, tour well worth it for the history of Paronella. Highly recommend a visit. (Gift shop too pricey though😉)
