“A World Exclusive Experience” – 2 flights in one, take a Helicopter and Ski Plane flight onto the spectacular Tasman Glacier with the pioneers!
This was a birthday present for our 18 year old twins. They had an amazing time and something they will remember for years.
Our family loved the experience of landing on the Glacier. We had stunning weather. The opportunity to land on the glacier in a ski plane was incredible, and then we flew back in a helicopter. Both pilots were really friendly and gave us an interesting commentary as we flew.
Enjoyable however slightly dissapointed. With 4 seats at the back you need a window seat to see. If you do not get a window seat, enjoy the ride with minimal view and being squashed between two people. Rode with 2 others who had already been up. Foced us to get in first , having the window with an obstructed view for the whole ride. Ive had better experiences that were more comfortable in other countries of the world. This felt overcrowded and average for what you pay. If you have never been in a helicopter then this will be a great experience but if you have been in a helicopter it most likely will dissapoint.

I had a very disappointing experience with this operator. I arrived at the airport expecting a helicopter & ski plane flight as booked, only to be told that I would be flying in a ski plane instead. They insisted the route was the same and kept emphasizing that I had paid a lower price, which felt dismissive and frustrating. They explained that the switch was due to a lack of passengers for the helicopter, which seemed like an unreasonable reason for changing my flight, especially since I had tried to book the experience online earlier for my friend (another one slot), and it showed that the slots were fully booked. Naturally, I assumed there were enough passengers to proceed with the helicopter as planned. Again, they did not address this concern and issue. So, I rescheduled for the next day after a staff member assured me that a confirmed helicopter and ski plane flight was scheduled for 10:30 am—though they warned that it would still depend on the weather. However, the following day, I received an email saying only the helicopter would be flying due to poor weather. I couldn’t understand how the helicopter could fly in those conditions but the ski plane couldn’t—it just didn’t make sense. Since I had paid for a combo experience and felt that the operator was not delivering on what was promised, I cancelled my booking due to bad weather and request a refund. Overall, this experience felt confusing and inconsistent (somewhat scam). Clear communication and a smoother refund process would go a long way in making customers feel valued.

To clarify, our ski plane and helicopter have different weather restrictions, primarily due to wind conditions and landing requirements. The ski plane needs quite specific weather and snow conditions to land safely, whereas the helicopter has more flexibility in varying conditions. This is why one aircraft may be able to operate while the other cannot. Additionally, we do operate with minimum numbers in mind, as we are conscious of sustainability and aim to reduce unnecessary environmental impact where possible.
