Situated in a privately owned nature reserve, you have the rare opportunity to witness over 20,000 gannets in their natural habitat, swooping and nesting right before your eyes.
This exciting 4x4 adventure is led by an expert guide who will take you off-road in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle to traverse riverbeds, working farms and native bush while providing commentary on the geology and European history of Cape Kidnappers.

Highly recommendable
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour! Jan is an excellent tour guide, narrating the whole journey and a font of knowledge on gannets and the local area! We would certainly recommend this tour, the gannet colony was a hive of activity, beauty and joy, the landing of some gannets just hilarious!

Gannet Safaris' tour
A wonderful experience and not just seeing the gannets. Our bus driver/guide was friendly, funny and so knowledgeable about the area having lived there as a child so stories came from personal experience. He talked about the history of the area, the conservation and use of the cape with interesting unique stories. Of course the icing on the cake were the gannets. Thank you for providing a fabulous tour.

Amazing!
Wayne was our driver and he was one of the original drivers to Cape Kidnappers. He was very informative and helpful. I was able to get a transfer back to the isite in town to catch my ship and the isite in town also assisted greatly. The workers that run the tour were all friendly and the stops along the way up were gorgeous. The provided afternoon tea or coffee was nice to have to warm up at the Colony and watching so many at one time was amazing. Thank you all for the great day!

Gannet Colony tour
We enjoyed very much the experience with our lovely tour guide/driver Tony. Although most of the birds are gone on the main colony earlier than usual due to the cyclone , we have a really good time having an extra viewing of the black reef colony plus the property and the history around it is very fascinating.
