Perfect Day Out
I booked through Book Me to do the Mail Run trip and was very pleased with the price being half of the normal rate for an adult; effectively it was two for the price of one. The trip out to the island was great, with a running commentary of the history of the island from the captain of the ferry. We got to see quite a bit more than just the straight run to Mansion House by doing the Mail Run trip. We enjoyed lunch at the cafe after arriving, followed by a walk up to the lookout. It was great to have a choice to depart at either 2pm or 4:30pm. We decided to chill out at the cafe after our walk and enjoy the lovely surroundings and the wildlife (included a few peacocks and Wekas), leaving on the later return ferry trip. I can highly recommend doing this trip if people have not done it. It can be done inside a day, leaving from Auckland.

Journée à Kawau
Magnifique île pour une escapade reposante. En revanche, je pense qu'il serait important de préciser que le ferry dure 1h30 avant d’arriver à Mansion House en raison de nombreux aller-retour pour déposer ou prendre des personnes dans les parties privées de l’île. J’aurai aimé le savoir à l’avance ou alors être déposée en premier.

Kawau Island
There was a little rain on the day we went to Kawau - but that meant that we didn't have the crowds of people on the boat which was great. The cruise in and around the island was lovely and thoroughly enjoyable. We ordered the meals, my son had the American hotdog which he liked and me and my husband both got the steak which we enjoyed too. We really liked touring the Mansion house on Kawau Island and then we went for a wander around which was great and finished off with some ice creams at the cafe. I would absolutely recommend anyone to do this trip.

Die besondere Art des Reisens
Tolle Erfahrung mit dem Postschiff von Sandspit nach Kawau Island zu fahren um die Post auszutragen! Es werden mehrere Buchten angefahren und Steg um Steg warten bereits Leute auf ihre Post und andere wichtige Utensilien. Die Fahrt bis Kawau hat ca 30 Minuten gedauert bis die erste Bucht angelaufen wurde, währendessen hat der Kapitän viele interessante Info's über die Insel und die Umgebung gegeben. Auch zu jeder angelaufenen Bucht wurde viel Wissenswertes weiter gegeben. Nach ca 2 Stunden haben dann am Mansion House angelegt und konnten zwischen der Rückfahrt um 2pm oder 4:30 pm wählen. Schöne Wanderungen auf der Insel bieten viel über Flora und Fauna. Da auch das Wetter sehr angenehm war und die Passagieranzahl sehr überschaubar fanden wir diesen Ausflug sehr schön!
