Stacey said... Nothing wrong with the travel to and from the islands but having to lug around your snorkel gear and equipment between the 2 islands was seriously inconvenient - would've been much more ideal to collect at each island. Fitzroy island only opened for drinks at 10am and food was 1130am, which is when we had to return to the boat for Green Island. I am a local and I was embarrassed to have my friends visiting from overseas to experience the poor state of Green Island's facilities, with bird feces permeating the walkways and pool area, the entire area stunk and was rundown, mouldy and poor snorkeling opportunities. The island resort owners and tour operators should be ashamed to call this an amazing Great Barrier Reef experience!
