Enjoy an active winery tour on our full day self guided Bike The Wineries ride - explore the wine region of Gibbston at your leisure!

Highlights

  • Explore the Gibbston wine region by bike at your own pace
  • Visit the quaint village of Arrowtown and take to the picturesque Arrow River Bridges Trail
  • See the Kawarau River and cross over the historic suspension bridge - home of the first Bungy!
  • Stop at many award winning wineries, a cheesery and brewery along the way
  • Receive valuable trail knowledge and information from our expert team
  • Total biking distance is your choice from 15 - 22kms

Your journey will begin with a scenic scheduled bus transfer to the quaint village of Arrowtown which is steeped in rich gold-mining history.

Our local, knowledgeable team will fit you to your bikes and provide an entertainment and detailed briefing of your adventure ahead. Enjoy a coffee at one of the many cafes or get straight on your bike and get ready to take to the picturesque Arrow River Trail. You'll see the mighty Kawarau River and cross over the historic suspension bridge - now home to the Bungy, on the original Miners Trail.

From here you can ride the scenic Gibbston River Trail and visit the many award-winning wineries, a cheese deli, gin room and tavern that are linked through this easy riding trail. All trails are purpose-built, easy to moderate grade and off-road, with only direct road crossing between wineries.

Relax knowing that you only have to bike in one direction (no biking back to Arrowtown in a head wind!) and the scheduled bus service will collect you at the time given in the briefing, then taking you back to Queenstown.

Wineries en route are:

• Gibbston Valley Winery

• Gibbston Cheesery / Deli

• GT Tasting Room

• Gibbston Tavern

• Rockburn

• Kinross

Amazing experience

This is a must on your list when travelling to New Zealand. The scenery is spectacular, the winery's are stunning. The staff are friendly and very funny. I would recommend upgrading to an ebike, this definitely makes it more enjoyable. We would 100% do it again.

Best way to experience wineries

My husband and I have done many wine tours (bus/ car/ limo). Doing it by e-bike was way more exciting. Thanks so much!
