Relax and enjoy a sense of freedom as you spend the afternoon exploring the Gibbston Valley wine region at your own leisure.
After a scenic and informative drive to the Kawarau Suspension Bridge, home of bungy jumping and the beginning of the Gibbston Valley, our guide will fit you to your bike and provide detailed trail and winery information before you set off along the Gibbston River Trail on your self-guided ride.
Travel at your leisure along the 9km easy off-road trail while you use our informative winery map to visit some of the renowned wineries, a cheesery and brewery during the afternoon.
In a half day it's likely you'll get to 3 or 4 of the following choices:
• Chard Farm
• Gibbston Valley Winery
• Gibbston Cheesery
• Peregrine Wines

After exploring this beautiful wine region we'll pick you up from Gibbston Tavern, or another pre-arranged point in the valley - we'll even go and collect any wine you purchased throughout the day.

Hi Karen Great to hear you had a fun time biking the wineries with your family. Cheers Lisa, Around The Basin.
We had so much fun! The team were very friendly and helpful. The bikes were in great condition and easy to use. The bike track is clearly marked and felt safe to ride on. Highly recommend this activity!
Hi Kirsten, Thanks so much for your awesome review! Glad you had a good time :) Thanks, The Around The Basin Team
They were really accommodating and bikes are in great condition. It was a lot of fun!
Hi Nadine, Thanks for taking the time to leave a lovely review! Glad you had a fun ride out at the wineries! Thanks, Louise at Around The Basin
We had a great afternoon biking the wineries from the Kawarau bridge. Our driver was super friendly and made the whole process really easy, the ride itself is really cruising, almost all flat. It is hot in the summer so take sunscreen and plenty of water. We would have loved to do the full day, but didn't realise this was an option, so I would recommend that if you have the time :)
Thanks very much for the review Abbey, we are so glad you enjoyed your Half Day Wine tour with us. The Full Day wine tour does start at a different location, about 15km away from the first winery, as the wineries don't open until 12pm mostly. So if you're keen on a stunning 1.5-2hr ride from Arrowtown to the wineries then it is great alternative to the Half Day. Hopefully see you again soon for the Full Day Adventure! Cheers - Around The Basin Team.
Awesome day! Group of 22 of us and we had a blast. Bike tour were so good with pick up and drop off, super easy. The biking wasn’t hard but also wasn’t super easy. Scenery made it all worth it and I would recommend a E bike if you want to go fast. Vineyards were accommodating re such a big group of us. Had us on the lawn with picnic blankets, drinks and nibbles - super perfect. Such a cool avctivity for such a large group of people at once. Would do it over and over again.
Thanks so much for the review Natasha! So glad your big group enjoyed the ride with us. Hopefully see you out again soon. Cheers, Around the Basin Team.

Family fun
Hi We did this with two teenagers. We did the half day.’ It was so easy with pick up from town and drop off at bungy. Nice bike and lunch without the wines. Agreed would be great with stopping at every vineyard with friends but good for others to know this is very family friendly.
