Watershed is a design-led floating sauna and cold plunge experience just moments from the Queenstown CBD. Once you step onto the pontoon, it feels like you’ve left town behind. Settle into Finnish-style heat, then cool off with a dip in the lake. Between rounds, relax on the deck with uninterrupted views across Lake Whakatipu to Walter Peak. At golden hour, it is hard to beat.
This is contrast therapy, Queenstown style. Join a shared sauna session, it can be social if you want it to be, or quiet if that is more your pace. The pontoon was purpose-built for comfort and connection, offering space to breathe, reset, and properly switch off. It is the perfect counterpoint to Queenstown’s high energy. Calm, stillness, and something genuinely good for your body and mind.
For the cold side of the ritual, you choose your level. Take a full plunge into the crystal-clear waters of Lake Whakatipu via our lake access, or ease in with glacial buckets and cold showers using fresh lake-fed water. Move at your own pace, or follow a simple rhythm of sauna, plunge, rest, repeat.
Your visit is designed to be effortless. Check in at our wharf-side reception, collect your towel, store your belongings in a locker, and head down to the water for a short welcome and safety briefing. From there, unwind, chat, sit quietly, or just watch the light shift across the lake. Whether you are easing travel stiffness, recovering after a big day outdoors, resetting with friends, or shaking off a dusty morning, Watershed offers the kind of reset that lingers long after you leave.
Itinerary
- Meet your host for a quick welcome and safety overview.
- Store your belongings in a secure locker and get ready for your session.
- Walk down to the pontoon and board the floating sauna.
- Begin your heat–cold cycle: enjoy the sauna (we recommend no longer than ~15 minutes at a time), then cool off in the lake plunge pool, with the outdoor shower or plunge buckets.
- Rest in the cool room between rounds.
- Complete your final round, gather your things and prepare to depart.
- Return to the wharf feeling refreshed, calm and reset.
