Every day is different Kris snow one day wind the next and even when its raining the keas come down low and the waterfals well the fall water lots of it! It was the windiest day I had experienced at wishbone ,and what a sight! All that water getting blown away. Please come back and we will go fishing next time! Doug

Awesome Matukituki Valley & Misty Mountains
We had an amazing half day 4WD guided trip with Doug through the Matukituki Valley. Amazing scenery and expertly driven and guided with Doug's local knowledge. We felt very safe in capable hands, unlike the many non 4WD vehicles we saw attempt to navigate the valley. The trip included many scenic stops which included Wishbone Waterfalls, Matukituki Suspension Bridge, Treble Cone Summit. Doug was very accommodating as we took photos. We had the bonus of watching the paragliders fly off Treble Cone - Doug being a paragliding enthusiast explained the wind dynamics in detail which was very interesting. Due to our plans changing we made a night before booking which we were surprised to be able to do. We would highly recommend this trip.

Awesome day out with Doug. Weather wasn't the greatest but Doug made sure we had great day exploring the beautiful landscape anyway. Having a great private tour from the comfort of a warm 4WD was definitely worth it , definitely recommend.

Thanks Douglas for this amazing Tour!! One of the best things Ive done so far in NZ. Amazing landscape in the Matukituki-Valley, great views of Lake Wanaka and the surrounding mountains. Douglas is a very funny, kind and interesting host with many stories about the landescape and the animals.

An unforgettable Wanaka experience
We had an amazing time with Misty Mountain Explorer in Wanaka. The scenery was absolutely stunning — dramatic mountains, crystal-clear lakes, and viewpoints that truly showcase the best of the Southern Alps. Doug made the experience truly memorable. He was incredibly friendly and generous in sharing his own local experiences and para-gliding stories. He took great care of our kids, making sure they were comfortable and engaged throughout, which we really appreciated as a family. He also thoughtfully altered the tour to suit our family’s interests, skipping the winery stop as it wasn’t our thing, and adjusting the route and timing due to the weather (it was so windy at Wishbone!) so we still had the best possible experience. We were well looked after the entire time. If there’s an opportunity next time, we’d absolutely love to try fly fishing with Doug — a pity that we had to skip due to weather! But as what Doug said, "wait 5 mins!" Highly recommended — this was a genuine highlight of our trip.
