WE picked the day trip from Queenstown as my daughter badly wanted to go to Milford Sound and I didn’t care for the drive. I am so glad we went and so glad we did the bus trip. It might be a long day with 9 hours in a coach. However, The scenery on the drive down to the sound was breath taking and as good as, maybe better!!! than the boat trip. There, I’ve said it. And I haven’t been struck by lightening. Oz was our driver and he provided a very informative commentary all the way down. The bus was exceptionally comfortable. With such an early start and despite the Interesting commentary in the background it was hard not to drift off for a sleep - couldn’t do this if you were driving! Pick up at 6.50 am went smoothly, a break each way in Te Anua was enough.
The boat trip of course showed the stunning vistas that Milford is renowned for. Our feedback to the company here is that the commentary did not match that of the bus. I found I really missed Oz’s voice telling me facts about what I might be looking at or what he thought about pest control in the Sound or trailblazers to the area etc.
It’s a quicker trip back 4 hours without the picture stops so most people sleep.
All up, this was the highlight of my Queenstown stay!!
