It specifically states that "you can expect to encounter many species of birds that are difficult to sight elsewhere in New Zealand" and therefore, whilst nature is unpredictable, you at least expect the nature guide to mention bird life. She was simply there to take you to a higher point on the island to see a view (that also could not be described as "spectacular") . I specifically asked about birds on the island and her answer was that we would not see any and there was not much on Stevenson's Island. The error here then lies with false marketing narrative which is misleading. It depends what you want to take away from a trip and if it is nature then give this one a wide berth and spend your money better elsewhere.
