Makue! Kai E! A twilight experience. A warm whakatau ceremony marks entry into our Tawa forest village an evening celebrating our connection to our land, forests and waterways and each other. Together we will prepare dinner - a special fried bread Puku Burgerinvented right here at Tamaki Māori Village! Once inside our Tawa forest, bonfires blaze and delicious morsels are shared. Buttery corn cobs, boil up broth, mussels and smoked fish join seasonal delicacies like pikopiko – even huhu grubs when we can catch em!

Enjoy a pre-dinner drink and soak in the buzz of Manawa o te Pā- the heart of the village. Seated for an alfresco dinner, your Puku Burger is served with fresh salad, produce, dressings and Māori herbs forged from local forests. Kapahaka and impromptu “around the globe” performance kick start the entertainment, followed by a live musical soundscape for your alfresco feast.

When dinner concludes, wander by lantern light for dessert in a secret forest alcove. Share in the magical firelight - before returning to Rotorua.

I would book again in a heartbeat

this is one tour i won’t forget! my husband and i loved this experience from the moment we got welcomed on the premises. pure joy and peace during our visit, from making our own kai, to interacting and learning a thing or two with the kapa haka group to playing a few games that was use to teach the young kids from Left to right back then... you get to enjoy your puku burgers and socialise at the table with others who have book this visit from all around the world. the whole experience was honestly awesome but the one that capture my heart was sitting around the bond fire with the stars shining from above having a real intimate moment, and having the kapa haka sing to you live!!!! i mean their harmonies and vocals were out of this world!!!! i’ll definitely book in a heartbeat

Genuine and truthful experience

We were a small group of 8 people and were lucky to had booked this day as it was the birthday of one of the owners so we actually got to meet a part of the big and extended family as well. The food was delicious and there was plenty but more importantly the experience felt genuine and realistic - I didn't feel like a tourist. I had been waiting one year to see the haka live and it definitely was my highlight of this trip. I would recommend this 100% to anyone who is interested in maori culture (stories, songs, dances). Thank you.

A must do activity

A must do trip in Rotorua. Good performance, plenty of food. Feeding eels are so much fun, even for adults. It's a very unique Maori experience compare with other activities I joined before. We actually sat down and had dinner with some staff. Learned a few things about Maori while having dinner and chatting. After dinner we all gathered together around fire in the forest, we shared the stories and sang songs together. I was very grateful that everyone birthday song in three language( English, Maori and Chinese) who was not there but having birthday in the second day. I was allowed to take a video of it to send to him. What a wonderful and special gift. Thank you all.
