Step aboard and join us for a cruise on Kakariki!
Our comfortable boat will take you out to view the 14-metre high Maori Rock Carvings which are only accessible by water.
Kakariki will take you right up close for the perfect photo of Ngatororangi carved into the rock face.
As we cruise out to the carvings on crystal clear water you will be able to view the spectacular scenery from four comfortable seating areas. Either inside the cabin, outside in the cockpit, or climb upstairs to our flybridge. You can even have a Titanic moment out on our bowrider.
Our experienced skippers will talk to you about the historical, spiritual and cultural significance of the area.
Onboard we have all the essential facilities. A bathroom and an area for changing and a galley kitchen.
We provide free tea and coffee and are licensed to sell alcoholic drinks. R18
In summer we stop for a swim and our duckboard makes it easy for getting in and out of the water.
Thank you for the great review - every day on the lake is a good day
Originally I booked the tour on the Kakariki boat but was then transferred to the eco sailing tour. That’s fine and all but I was only informed of this not even 1 hour before departure. What I found disappointing was that the tour guide didn’t talk to us all that much. We had to sit at the front of the sail, because the sitting area in the back was full. So while the people in the back got to talk to the guide and probably got some information about the cruise, we didn’t. That day the sea was pretty rough, so the weaves were quite big. What made the trip a bad experience for me personally, was that we weren’t notified that we could get splashed while sitting in the front area of the sail( my first time on a boat like this so I didn’t know it beforehand). And since we are sleeping in a tent, there was no opportunity for us to warm ourselves up, since it was also the 5 pm tour. Would have appreciated if we were told about the possibility of getting wet beforehand, since by the one we arrived at the carvings we were soaked. Then had to endure the ride back with wet clothes, no sun and wind. But the carvings were still marvelous! The view kind of made up for the trip we had. So all in all a nice Tour but I defenitely would have enjoyed it more on another boat. Captain still did a great job on getting us to the carvings and back with the rough sea.
They asked as to re book for the following day only to get let down right at the last minute which was disappointing then was told an excuse of they were busy on the phone to a client in the u.k so only could rate them 1 star as we never got to go on the cruise so can only comment on the way things went down as we had to travel from turangi which is 44 min away could have given us a heads up earlier in the morning so we could of made other plans.
