Discover the history, scenery and flavours of the Tasman Peninsula on a flexible day trip designed to give you more choice in how you spend your day.
Departing Hobart at 9:30 AM, we'll head towards the Tasman Peninsula, stopping along the way at some of the region's most interesting sights. Take in the spectacular views from Pirates Bay Lookout, discover the fascinating history of the Dog Line, and make a stop at Foundry Chocolate for a taste of some local Tasmanian goodness.
From there, you have the option of a 30 or 60-minute visit to the Lavender Farm before continuing to Port Arthur.
We'll arrive at Port Arthur Historic Site around 11:40 AM, with entry to the historic site included. You can then choose between three or four hours to explore, giving you the freedom to spend your time the way you want.
Choose the four-hour option if you want plenty of time to explore the convict ruins, historic buildings, harbour and surrounding grounds at your own pace.
Prefer to see a little more of the Tasman Peninsula? Choose the three-hour option, which gives you time to explore Port Arthur before visiting Remarkable Cave. It's a great way to combine Tasmania's convict history with some of the dramatic natural scenery the peninsula is famous for. Parks Pass fees apply for Remarkable Cave and can be paid directly on the bus on the day.
After your time at Port Arthur, we'll begin the journey back towards Hobart, with one more stop that showcases another side of Tasmania.
We'll stop at Forty Two Degrees in Dunalley, where an Australian oyster-shucking champion works. Watch the skill involved and, if you wish, sample fresh oysters or other cold seafood. Grab a seat at the picnic tables, enjoy the relaxed surroundings and wind down after a day of exploring the peninsula.
This tour is ideal for travellers who want to experience Port Arthur without being locked into a one-size-fits-all itinerary. Whether you want to spend more time exploring the historic site, visit Remarkable Cave, enjoy a short or longer stop at the Lavender Farm, or finish the day with fresh Tasmanian seafood, you choose the experience that suits you.

Cracker of a day
Our driver had great local knowledge. Good commentary all the way with some great little stops to break up the drive. Port Arthur was fascinating. Would recommend this trip.

Fabulous Trip
From the pick up till the end this trip was great value. Our Driver was very helpful explaining the various historical significant places along the way. He was very knowledgeable of the famous aspects of Port Arthur. In addition we were able to visit the Remarkable Caves. This was fantastic and I would hated to have missed this too. The short visits along the way to the Tas chocolate company and the Lilac Farm were also very good. With just a small group it makes it so much easier to organise and not having to wait for lots of people. Would highly recommend this company to anyone. It great day out with fantastic memories. Thanks Guys

Convenient way to get to Port Arthur
We cancelled our rental car and decided to take tours and shuttle (like this) during our stay in Hobart. The shuttle stop was a convenient 3 block walk from our hotel. Our driver Steve made the ride very interesting with his commentaries. We booked a premium tour with our Port Arthur park ticket and Steve moved the itinerary around to make sure we make it to our booking without rushing. The stops were great, picked up some chocolates from the Tasmanian Chocolate Foundry.

Unexpectedly good experience
Being called "shuttle", we didn't expect much but got a very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable driver, convenient pickup location, and a few sufficiently interesting/picturesque stops along the way with engaging commentary. Given how painfully early most of such day trips typically are, this one is fairly civilised, starting at 9:30. Keep in mind that you still need to pay admission at Port Arthur ($48 at the time of writing) and that it is a large site, so to make it all within the time allocated, you need to be strict with the time you spend at each location. Also, the short cruise included in the admission, will eat around 40 mins of your time including boarding and disembarking, but is certainly worth it. All in all, an excellent experience.

Great day trip
This was a great way to see some of the sights in a day. Port Arthur was interesting as was the drive, scenery and commentary. Steve did a great job . Would recommend.
