I went as a local and initially my friend and I considered organising a day trip ourselves and found this to be the best value as you are driven to and from the Wairarapa. The guide, Phil, was knowledgeable and even taught us locals something about the Wellington region. He was also quite flexible, e.g. Open to visiting different wineries to the ones he had planned. It was possibly a little short for us we felt rushed toward the end of the trip but you are doing 2.5 hours of travel in a 5 hour tour so it doesn't give much time to mull over the tastings and subsequent wine purchases. If you are short on time this is a great option but if you have a little more time, try a full day tour or arrange to stay in the Wairarapa overnight.
