Soar over the stunning Franz Josef & Tasman glaciers on a thrilling 30-minute helicopter ride, including breathtaking views and an unforgettable landing on the Tasman Glacier.
Our Franz Joseph and Fox Glacier flight was excellent. The pilot, helicopter and itinerary that was amended for safety reasons were without fault. The administration was not. From time of booking until day of flight, they initiated contact only to remind me about the $20 fuel surcharge. I found out by asking them that you could arrive at their counter on the day of flight and they could simply say that they were cancelling the flight because there were less than 4 passengers. This is deliberately not shown in the upfront booking information. When questioned they say they would give a full refund without giving a time frame. Most passengers would probably be overseas tourists who cannot then wait around for days in case of availability, at their own extra financial and time cost. They still show flight availability for days of 100% rain probability where there will be no flights. We got onto our prebooked flight by pure luck because 3 people booked onto that flight at 3pm the day before and then the weather held long enough for our flight to procede.
Incredible! I joined Inflite's 30 Minute Tasman Experience Helicopter Flight & Glacier Landing. Was one of the best things I've done. Amazing to see the glaciers and Mt Cook from above. Reallly cool to see some other helicopters and people on the glacier just to give the vast landscape a sense of scale. And then landing on the Tasman Glacier and walk around in the middle of that landscape was awesome. James, our pilot, was great. Very informative. And I barely noticed the landings. Staff in the office were really good, too. Thanks very much!
Thanks for taking the time to share this feedback -sorry to hear you left feeling disappointed. It’s great to hear our pilot offered to take a few photos for you, but I’m sorry you didn’t feel the shots were any good. Our pilots are extremely experienced, safety-focused professionals, but they aren’t professional photographers, they do always try their best to capture some nice memories when time allows. This is the first time we’ve received feedback like this about pilots taking photos, but we do appreciate you mentioning it. In terms of timing, the experience is advertised as 30 minutes and according to our flight logs (we record every flight), your aircraft took off at 9:23am and landed at 9:53am, so it was exactly 30 minutes. The landing time is included within that 30 minutes (the walk to helicopter is not), If you’d like more time in the air or on the landing we do offer longer options as well, including our 60-minute Grand Circle and 90-minute Picnic experience. We’re also sorry you don’t feel what you paid represented good value. For context, it is actually one of the more competitively priced 30-minute glacier landing experiences available in the area, but we absolutely understand that value is personal and based on expectations. Thanks again for your review -we genuinely do take it onboard.
The Tasman Experience with INFLITE - West Coast was hands down the best experience of my South Island trip. From start to finish, the entire process was fantastic and seamless, thanks to the amazing staff. Our pilot, James, was incredible—extremely knowledgeable and kept us engaged with great commentary about the mountain ranges, alpine huts, and glaciers. The icing on the cake was landing on Tasman Glacier. Stepping onto the ice to take in those surreal 360-degree views gave us the best photos of our entire journey. If you want a world-class flight in Franz Josef, this is it.
