Howick Historical Village - Entry

Get the full early settler experience at Howick Historical Village, for up to half the general admission price!

Step back in time and soak up the ambiance of days gone by at the Howick Historical Village!

A unique ‘Living History’ Museum, presenting the stories of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland's early settlers in a hands-on and immersive way, visitors can explore authentic 1840s cottages, homesteads, schools, church, a smithy, a general store and more, all set in heritage gardens.

Wrap up for a winter stroll to explore the site. With crafts and plenty to entertain the young ones, make a day of it! Enjoy brunch or lunch by the fire or on the sunny deck of the Homestead Café.

The following attractions take place in JULY:

  • Feed the Chooks: everyday at 10:45am
  • Make a Rag Rug: Saturdays & Sundays 11-12:30pm
  • Butter Making: Sundays 11-3pm
  • Self-directed children's crafts: Weekends and school holidays
  • Live Day: 10th of July, 10-4pm
  • Garden Talk with the Village's heritage gardener Luke Southern: 14th of July, 11am


Please note that activities change on a monthly basis.

For the full experience visit on the LIVE DAY on Sunday 10 July! Meet costumed Villagers, learn how to make rope, churn butter, attend a school lesson,get an insight into baking on the coal range and more! Interactive activities and demonstrations take place throughout the day.

Live Days take place every 2nd Sunday of the month.

Notes

  • Valid for general admission everyday including Live Days. Not valid for special events and ticketed programming.

    Activities: No bookings required for Rag Rug and Butter Making activities. Free with entry but donations are welcome or support us by purchasing something in the gift shop.

    Masks must be worn in any indoor spaces and where social distancing is not possible; masks are recommended when outdoors.

    Open: 10am-4pm (last entry 3pm). Cafe hours 9am-3pm (kitchen closes at 2pm)

    No dogs permitted (except for guide dogs)

Highly recommend Howick Historical Village as a way to spend your day. Definitely look for when their next Live Day is and plan a trip :)

Great family outing

Lovely family day out, kids loved it and my 4 year old got a washing experience she will never have to experience again! Very cool and educational :) we also enjoyed some refreshments at their lovely cafe afterwards, highly recommend!

Would’ve liked to see more of the Māori perspective represented but a very interesting set of exhibits nonetheless.
