Join us for a magical stellar evening with New Zealand’s only guided hot pools and star gazing experience!
Soak In The Stars is a unique 90-minute stargazing experience at the renowned Tekapo Springs, combining the spectacular Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve with exclusive access to a relaxing hot pool.
In clear conditions, you'll begin with a guided exploration of Tekapo's breathtaking night sky, discovering stars, planets, galaxies and constellations through powerful telescopes and with the naked eye. If conditions aren't suitable for telescope viewing, your guide will instead take you on an immersive Virtual Reality journey through the southern skies. Featuring stunning 360° visuals, Māori star stories and incredible perspectives of the universe, this experience reveals celestial wonders that simply can't be seen through a telescope, offering a fascinating way to explore the cosmos regardless of the weather.
The experience continues with time to unwind in a soothing 38°C hot pool beneath the Dark Sky Reserve. Float in a hammock while your guide shares astronomy insights, cultural stories and highlights of the night sky overhead, creating a relaxing and memorable finale to your evening.
The Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve is home to some of the clearest, darkest skies in the world and is the largest Dark Sky Reserve in the Southern Hemisphere.
Our Guides were very informative and knowledgeable. The best part was to get to hear the stories of how people named the stars and the history of Maori culture related to the stars while bathing in the hot pools.
Thank you for your awesome feedback. We are really pleased to know that our guides could pass on their knowledge, and you learnt a lot about our amazing night sky. The pools are nice and relaxing, and they are the best way to enjoy the stars. We hope to see you again in the future.
Hot pools good and got to see stars. No star gazing though. Would have preferred star gazing first than pools after to listen to stories Was meant to be on 1215am tour. Staff contacted to advise earlier better weather so agreed. I felt staff wanted to finish early because skies were clearer at 12pm
Thanks for your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed the hot pools and seeing the stars, but we're sorry the experience didn’t meet your expectations. Occasionally tour times or formats may change for operational reasons, as outlined in our terms and conditions. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts and will pass this on to the team.
Sadly the weather was not on our side and it was cloudy for our activity. Instead of outdoor stargazing we had vr headsets - which were quite lame as a replacement. Then we got to go in the hot pools for about 50mins. It was fun, just not really worth the price since we didnt get to do the main part.
Cool experience! We were lucky to have clear skies while learning about the stars and using the telescopes. It did cloud over later while we were relaxing in the hot pools. Great tour guide too!

Stargazing on Tekapo Spring
因天空不作美導致連一顆星星都看不到,但AR介紹及導覽員非常認真的介紹以及說明Tekapo跟Mackenzie的歷史跟有趣的事,值得一推
