I’ve been traveling for 15 months now, but today thanks to Captain Bruce, I lived the most beautiful day of my life. It wasn’t just about the whales, but about the contagious enthusiasm of a captain who, after so many years in this job, still gets emotional every time he sees them. Watching him with tears in his eyes, moved just like us, made him feel more like a companion than just a guide. Here’s my advice for anyone who loves whales and has always dreamed of meeting them: don’t go on large boats or catamarans. Instead, choose Captain Bruce’s spacious and safe inflatable boat. Whales are curious creatures, and while they can’t really interact with big vessels, from the zodiac you can get close and personal. That’s how we had the incredible chance to be surrounded by seven whales swimming around us, breaching, and playing with us. And then came the most unforgettable moment, something no one else includes in the price: the chance to swim with the whales. In that instant, the child who, 30 years ago, used to watch documentaries and dream of seeing whales up close, finally saw his dream come true. Today, I was able to make that child happy.
A cruise not for the faint hearted . It was highly enjoyable . More whales than we have ever have seen in one day . The closest encounters ever experienced by us . Crew were fabulous and very attentive to individual needs . We felt secure and cared for. The whales were so close their blow was sprayed on us . We could see individuals closely and all their barnacles. It was so much more than a cruise , it was an interaction of the closest kind ever. Loved it thoroughly . I did not swim but it was on offer to go in with whales . Not a comfort cruise but an adventure. You have comfort in a hotel . Do it.
To be repeated.
