Whānau of 8 said... Over the school holidays our whānau made the trip out from Kaikohe to experience Manea. Our tamariki are 14,9,4,2 and 7 months. While the host was young and relatable for our tamariki you could tell the story he shared was very scripted and dare not veer off. The commentary could be better appealing for the kids (there was another whanau with 3 tamariki with us) and knowing your audience to suit would be beneficial. The performance itself is a bit meek and could do with some uplifting. Maybe costume flare and enthusiasm from performers as it felt like they were 'at work' not telling an adventure story. I thought this would be the most enjoyable part for my tamariki but they weren't as excited as they were with the whakairo and giving each of them a hongi. The highlight of the experience was being welcomed and spoken to in Māori from the reception lady - He taonga te reo! Mauri ora kia koe e whaea!
