Great experience

Some really interesting information shared around the history of panning for gold. Really intriguing to see old equipment. Added bonus of getting to pan for your own gold at the end is bliss. Finders keepers!

Good activity to keep kids active

Part of the property is self-guided with bits of weather-faded signage, made it a little hard for people to see. Our kids were 5 and 7, so this self guided walk did keep them quite entertained but all kids are different. We then had a guided tour, kicking off with general history of the gold rush period and gold mining in the region, then a brief explanation on the types of rocks to look out for (note: it was tailored to be short and brief because of our kids). Then we had a go at sluicing and gold panning! We were lucky for a day with warm-ish spring weather - because you have to get your hands wet. Overall I’d say there’s rooms for improvement but definitely something different for domestic travelers.
