For a dining experience unlike any other in Queenstown, join us on a trip to the Colonel’s Homestead Restaurant at Walter Peak High Country Farm aboard the spectacular 'Lady of the Lake' (TSS Earnslaw, 1912)...
Your evening begins with a magical cruise across Lake Wakatipu aboard the TSS Earnslaw, a vintage steamship launched in 1912 and rich in local pioneering history. She is the only hand-fired commercial passenger carrying vessel in the Southern Hemisphere.
Arriving at Walter Peak High Country Farm on the opposite side of the lake it is time to disembark for the ambience of the Colonel’s Homestead Restaurant situated in beautiful gardens.
The menu includes an extensive range of local and New Zealand produce, succulent meats cooked on the rotisserie, a delicious range of vegetables and salads. Then finish with your dining experience with tantalising desserts, cheeses and freshly brewed tea and coffee.
After dinner enjoy a stroll around the beautiful gardens.
The entertainment continues on the spectacular night-time cruise home, where you can join in on a sing-a-long with the ship's pianist or just enjoy the fresh air and stunning views on the deck as the sparkling lights of Queenstown draw closer.
*Please note the TSS Earnslaw Steamship is undergoing scheduled maintenance during the period 19th May to 8th September 2025 - thank you!*
The BBQ buffet is good👍
What a lovely way to conclude our time in Queenstown! We enjoyed a delightful evening aboard a vintage boat cruising on Lake Wakatipu, followed by a wonderful meal at the Walter Peak High Country Farm restaurant. The staff offered exceptional hospitality, making us feel right at home. The food was absolutely delicious, with a wide variety of options to choose from. To top off the experience, we were entertained by the farm show featuring Quinn, the host, and Kim, the dog. It was truly a fantastic performance, filled with smiles and "aww" moments throughout!
Such a beautiful experience the cruise was really smooth and antenna was absolutely amazing. Definitely recommend the farm show after dinner. Definitely a highlight of the night. Such a cool experience. Echo is so clever. 10 out of 10. Also, the steam boat workers hardest workers definitely give them their props.
This is our second time at Walter peak and it did not disappoint. The picturesque views on the Earnslaw were second to none and the bbq dinner was sensational. We loved the dog and sheep show after dinner too. We will do this every time we visit Queenstown, we absolutely love it! Highly recommend.

It is a ‘must do’ in Queenstown
There are no words to describe how cool this experience is, you have to be there to experience it. From the modern town centre of Queenstown, you hop into history and experience the vessel which has been kept in it’s natural form The BBQ dinner was magnificent. It was very well organised and the buffet spread was grand! Definitely ate like royalty.
