Enjoy a great Eco Hiking Adventure on K’gari (Fraser Island) with a four wheel drive transfer that takes you to the central rainforest and ancient Wangoolba Creek. Camp at Lake Boorangoora (McKenzie) and swim at the secret hikers beach. Get in touch with the real spirit of World Heritage K’gari as you walk along sand tracks under ancient Rainforest trees. Day 1- Includes 4WD transfer to Central Station and the crystal clear Wangoolba Creek where you will start your hike (approx. 6.5km) to see some of Fraser’s unique lakes, and camp exclusively at Lake McKenzie hikers camp. Be the few people to enjoy this magical lake by sunset and sunrise.

Day 2 - Spend the morning lazing at Lake Boorangoora (McKenzie) secret hikers beach. Make yourself some lunch at the hiker’s facilities, pack up and take a short hike (approx. 8.3km) out via Kingfisher Bay Resort where you can stop for a refreshing drink at the end of your walk. Meet your 4wd transfer and guide at Kingfisher barge landing for a transfer back to your hostel or vehicle in Hervey Bay.

What's included:

  • Hiker information and safety briefing, barge and 4wd transfer, hiking equipment (hiking gas cooker, Billy, bowls cups etc) including 2 person tent, sleeping mat, maps and itineraries.
  • Minimum 2 people - Maximum 6 people
  • Sleeping bags and 65L backpacks available for hire $10 per item

What you'll need:

  • Shoes suitable for walking
  • Sense of adventure; as the hiking part of this trip is self-guided
  • Food not provided with this hike, bring your own light weight options
  • A bond of $150 for hiking equipment supplied
  • Torch, water purification tabs, sunscreen, hat, insect repellent, 1.5lt bottle to carry water.

Tour departs 8am from Urangan, accommodation pick-up and drop-off from Hervey Bay can be arrange, major Torquay Rd hostels only. Return on the 5pm Barge on the second day.

Price: $170 per person

Camp permits of $7 each are not included, payable on arrival

Minimum of passengers required for tour to take place, please understand if you are booking in smaller numbers you may be required to be placed on standby, alternatively if you are unable to change days you will be provided a full refund

It was a wonderful experience. Very small group (4 peoples), a lovely guide full of knowledge. The walks were easy and the lakes and the nature beautiful. You can take your time and enjoy every moments not like the tourists bus. Great experience that I highly recommend.
